Starbucks Japan Announces New Limited Sesame Drink!

Earlier in the year Starbucks Japan announced a new project called Starbucks Japan Wonder Project with the aim of letting customers "experience an unknown Japan" through their products! The first drink in this series featured Houjicha (roasted green tea) from Ishikawa prefecture. Starbucks is always releasing weird limited drinks, but this time to represent the calligraphy many people do as part of new years tradition, Starbucks are releasing the Goma Goma Goma frappuchino and latte.

The Goma Goma Goma range (goma meaning sesame in Japanese) features 3 different kinds of sesame seeds as well as crumbled sesame seed sables as the topping. But, how does this sesame seed drink represent New Years calligraphy? The contrast of colour between the black sesame seed and the creamy milk is supposed to evoke the image of black calligraphy ink on white paper!

The two new drinks will go on sale in Japanese Starbucks from December 26th until January 15th, so be sure to stop by during that time if you want to try this new drink! Sesame is a very popular flavour in Japan with many Japanese snacks and candy featuring sesame flavour, so we're also excited to try this new drink!
