Japan is famous for lovable, cute cat cafes, but did you know that another type of animal-themed Japanese cafe is also incredibly popular here!? Owl cafes! Yes, cafes filled with adorable cooing and soft feathers! Naturally, we at Tokyo Treat wanted to see what the buzz was all about! So, we set our reservation and hopped a train to Akihabara, where you can find the popular cafe Akiba Fukuro.
Once we arrived at the cafe, we were greeted by tons of adorable owls; some small enough to hold in our palm, and some large enough to perch on our shoulders. Unfortunately, outside food and drinks weren't allowed, so we had to quickly chow down on our Japanese candy that we had with us. As we sat down surrounded by these owls, any worries we had quickly melted away. We couldn’t believe how well behaved and calm these cute featherballs were!
Don’t you think they are just too cute!? Now, imagine holding one of these and gently petting them. We almost died of cuteness overload!
Guests get to spend a wonderful hour with these gorgeous birds. During that time, you choose two birds that you want to hold (at separate times). Also, the staff will take a complimentary group picture of you and your friends with your favorite birds! It is a perfect memento for a great experience!
The cafe even has cute original goods, like buttons or clear files, for sale that you can get on your way out! Even the owl I was holding couldn’t believe how cute these were!
So, after our time here, we definitely recommend opening up a spot in your Japan travel plans to fit in an owl cafe! You won’t regret it!
