The relationship between Japanese girls and food seems to be an eternal conflict between self-imposed rules and overweening passion.

A recent online poll about conbini snacks showed what kind of food leads Japanese girls into little guilty pleasures.

Here's the Japanese Girls' favorite Top 10 conbini snacks!

(Donuts) 👑

Surprisingly, the Donut is the king of the conbini! Coming in different flavours and textures it has a strong visual impact on youngsters. 🍩 🍩

A variation on the theme for Christmas (Baumkuchen)

(Croquettes)

Second place is Croquettes, with fried mashed potato as main ingredient. Everything's better when fried! 🤤

(Nikuman)

Nikuman is the first of the 〜man in the list. "Man" is the Japanese name for the Chinese baozi, a snack made from flour dough and filled with whatever you want. The niku (meat) version is the most popular. 🍖

(Pizaman)

Same as Nikuman, but filled with mozzarella cheese and tomato, pizza style. 🍕

The chicken served as street food in the conbini is usually a small chicken steak with some spices on. Simple and delicious! 🍗

(Karaage)

Karaage is the Japanese fried chicken. Usually in the same size as nuggets, it's served hot. Super hot. Lava hot. 🔥

(Anman)

The only sweet "man" of the list. "An" is the contraction of Anko, the sweet adzuki bean paste. 🍡

(Hot Dog)

'Murica!!! (the hot dog is called American dog in Japan...) 🌭

(Fried Potato)

When it comes to fried potato, Fast Food chains are still preferred by Japanese, but some of them stay true to their favorite conbini! 🍟

Except for the first place, where the donuts rule, is it clear that Japanese girls have an overall preference for salty snacks.

Which of the listed foods would you try first coming to Japan? Let us know in the comments!
