Have we mentioned already that Valentine's Day is pretty big in Japan? From KitKat's exclusive chocolates to Valentine's campaigns of big restaurant chains, there is always some interesting things popping up around this time of the year.
The downside is that, traditionally, girls give chocolates not only to their loved ones but also to friends, colleagues and other men in their entourage, which can easily become a complicated matter (don't worry though, they can always expect something in return during White Day!)
This specific kind of chocolate is called giri choco - that can be translated as obligation chocolate - and can very quickly become time consuming, as you can imagine!
To make things easier for women, Tokyo has opened just last weekend a store dedicated to selling giri choco, The Black Thunder Obligation Chocolate Shop, managed by Yuraku Confectionery.
These chocolate serve their purpose perfectly: they are nice and sweet, but also cheap, which makes them the ideal giri choco that everyone will appreciate. This store is located within the Tokyo Station and offers chocolates that are usually found only in other regions, such as the white chocolate, or boxes of 100 chocolates to be sure that there is enough for everyone. Of course, some people may feel like buying slightly better versions than the classic ones, so there is an option for this as well!
It will stay open until February 14th, just to make sure that everyone will be able to have their share. Are you going to stop by and by chocolates for everyone as well? (or simply cheat and get some for yourself? We can't really blame you for this...!)
