Japan is always surprising the world with their unique ability to take flavors from abroad and fuse them with traditional flavors in a masterful way. Starbuck's Japan always releases new interesting flavors, like this pink wonder they released the other month, that keep Starbucks fans always excited to see what is coming out next. This summer, alongside a ton of other chilled flavorful drinks, Starbucks Japan has released a matcha s'mores frappuccino! We were really surprised by this mix because who would've thought matcha and s'mores would make a delicious combo? However, Starbucks thought of it and so we, of course, needed to go try it out!
This frozen drink comes with a punch of matcha powder, whipped cream, freeze-dried marshmallows, chocolate bits, and graham cracker crumble mixed together. Not only is it mixed in, these are also used as a bottom layer and as toppings! Since it has all of these different layers, you can bet this frappuccino is flavor packed! That chocolate drizzle is just the perfect topping for all this goodness too!
From the side you can see all the layers of flavor that this one single drink contains. Usually our office foodie Vanessa would be the first to run out and grab this drink, but sadly she was away, so her foodie disciple Marie stepped up to make her mentor proud! She took a deep breath, braced herself for the force of this flavor storm, and took a sip….
…and she LOVED it! Just look at that matcha happy smile! She said that not only were all the flavors a really nice mix, but the textures also helped make this whole experience come together. The matcha flavor wasn't too bitter nor too strong, and the s'mores pieces weren't overly sweet as well. It was a very balanced, refreshing summer drink. If you have a chance to drink this, Marie definitely recommends that you try it out!
