5 Foodie Anime for Japanese Snack Addicts

Many of our wonderful TokyoTreat subscribers enjoy not only Japanese snacks and candy but other aspects of Japanese culture like anime! And if you've watched any Studio Ghibli film then you know how jam packed Miyazaki's films are with delicious animated food, but what are some other anime series full of mouth watering food that anyone can enjoy? Let's take a look!

Wakako Zake – This series follows Wakako, a 26 year old woman who goes out to eat alone after work. She educates viewers on different Japanese food and what drinks to pair with them. There aren't many anime like it and its a fun and educational watch for all the family!

Ristorante Paradiso – Nicoletta moves to Rome to seek revenge on her mother who abandoned her. Whilst in Rome she discovers Casetta dell'Orso, a restaurant staffed entirely by older men all wearing glasses. Nicoletta is swept up by the Italian pace of life and delicious food and forgets her revenge. This anime is classed as a jousei anime and catered towards a maturer audience.

Yakitate!! Japan – This anime follows Kazuma who loves baking bread! Kazuma discovered at a young age that he has a special gift, being warm hands that help with the fermentation process of making bread! Kazuma moves to Tokyo at 16 to compete for a space at a famous bakery and to create Japan's own famous bread. This anime is full of delicious baking action and is fun for everyone to watch!

Yume-iro Pâtissière – Ichigo, a young girl who up until now hadn't been successful or talented in anything discovers that she actually has an amazing taste palette, so she enrolls in a patisserie school. She enters the top class with the so called sweets princes and many events unfold. This is definitely an anime for those with a sweet tooth!

Shokugeki no Souma – This anime is about Soma who wants to be the best chef at his culinary academy. The students undertake numerous cooking battles in order to determine who is the best, and there's an overwhelming amount of delicious food scenes! It's no wonder this anime is extremely popular! It's another one suitable for the whole family to watch too~
