Hirosaki Castle (Aomori)

Hirosaki Castle is a historic castle located in Aomori Prefecture, in the northern part of Japan’s main island. It’s one of Japan’s few remaining feudal castles and is famous for its beautiful cherry blossom trees surrounding the castle grounds.

Their illumination event lasts around two weeks, from late April to early May. It uses thousands of LED lights that highlight the beauty of the cherry blossom trees, creating a stunning display of pink and white lights.

The castle grounds are in three sections, each with its unique atmosphere. The central section is the main area and is where the castle tower is. The cherry blossom trees in this section are the most numerous, creating a sea of pink that’s breathtaking to behold.

Meanwhile, the eastern section is more tranquil and features a pond and a stone garden, while the western section has a livelier atmosphere with food vendors and live performances.
