Enjoying the night blooming flowers during cherry blossom season in Japan is one of the highlights of the spring! From delicious food to fabulous events, here are the many things you can experience during this beautiful time of year!

What kind of snacks can I enjoy while watching the night blooming flowers?

When enjoying yozakura (cherry blossoms at night), it’s the best time to enjoy yummy snacks themed around these beautiful pink flowers while looking at the cherry blossoms at night, which is remarkable in Japan. This time of year, Japan has many special snacks for the season.

Try Strawberry Shortcake KitKats or Ghana chocolate if you want something super tasty! And watching cherry blossoms wouldn’t be the same without eating some delicious yakisoba noodles to mix in something savory with all the sweetness.

Don’t miss other excellent snacks like sakura karinto (fried dough), soft and sweet sakura mochi, and the pretty hanami dango rice balls. During this fun time, there are also lots of sakura-flavored jellies, buns, candies, and more in unique shops and cafes.

So, enjoy all the special sakura snacks while walking through parks and gardens with soft lights. They’ll make your experience of looking at the cherry blossoms at night even more special. Just remember to take your time and enjoy the beautiful flowers around you.

What activities should I participate in?

First, why not take a slow ride on a rickshaw or a train through places filled with cherry trees? Imagine cruising by all those pretty trees, their branches heavy with pink flowers. You could ride a boat in a yakatabune, an excellent traditional Japanese boat. Picture floating down a river, cherry blossoms all along the banks, while you munch on Japanese snacks and maybe sip some sake if you’re with adults. It’s a chill way to see the blossoms from a new angle.

You can also always enjoy hanami, the fun tradition of picnicking under the cherry blossom trees, with your family and friends. Just lay out a blanket, bring yummy food, and enjoy hanging out under the beautiful flowers and Japanese lanterns. It’s a great way to make memories with your loved ones, especially if you get a chance to visit the stone-splitting sakura tree in Morioka!

Sakura Kinomoto is the main character in “Cardcaptor Sakura.” She’s super positive and kind, and her story has much to do with cherry blossoms. Her look and personality are all about the beauty and grace you’d think of in traditional Japanese culture. She’s one of the top magical girl characters ever.

Then there’s Sakura Haruno from Naruto. She starts off not too strong but grows to become a fantastic medical ninja. She’s caring and supports her teammate, Sasuke, no matter what. Her journey is a big part of what makes Naruto so good, and people love her character.

Why should I enjoy the night blooming flowers?

Seeing the cherry blossoms at night lets you see them differently. The bright daylight doesn’t hide their shapes and shadows, so you can notice how beautiful the trees look with their curvy branches. Plus, fewer people are usually around, so you can soak in the moment, listening to the leaves move and feeling the cool night air.
