Have you heard the news about the newest crazy Japanese soda in Japan? Japan is well-known for all the wide flavor snack and drink varieties, and Coca-Cola Japan just added a new flavor to their line up that you may not see if you aren't paying attention! Coca-Cola Clear hit shelves this week and naturally we ran out to go grab a bottle for ourselves! This drink features a clear color while claiming to have both the original coke flavor, with a hint of lemon, and zero calories! While it may not be the craziest Japanese snack we have ever heard of, with all of these unique features we wanted to see if this is as amazing as it claims to be!
Success! We were able to get our hands on one of these mysterious drinks. We had to look really hard as we kept forgetting the classic cola color is now no longer there! In the end though, we spotted it and noticed something interesting. While the cola is clear, it still has carbonation bubbles inside so it is still definitely soda. Hmmm. Interesting!
The moment our office daredevil Vanessa opened that bottle she smiled in relief as it still smells like the Coca-Cola she knows and loves! After she gave herself a pep talk, she took a sip as we eagerly awaited her response. It has a fizzy sensation that isn't too strong and the cola flavor is balanced well with a pleasant lemon taste. She nodded and declared that it was the perfect soda for a hot summer day! She smiled almost as large as when she tried out the Sakura Starbucks Frappe!
Well, now it is known! Coca-Cola Clear may be missing its color, but the flavor is still there and it is perfect for summer! Hopefully we can snag enough of these to put them into your Japanese candy box!
